National Service Scheme (NSS) at KMEA Engineering College

"Not Me, But You"

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a flagship program initiated by the Government of India under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, aimed at instilling the spirit of social responsibility and volunteerism among students. Launched on 24th September 1969, coinciding with the birth centenary of Mahatma Gandhi, NSS has since been a beacon of selfless service, empowering youth to contribute meaningfully to society. With the motto “Not Me, But You”, NSS emphasizes the importance of community welfare, leadership, and holistic personality development through active engagement in social causes.

NSS volunteers dedicate 120 hours per year to various community service initiatives, ranging from health and education to environmental sustainability and disaster relief. Through Regular Activities and Special Camping Programs, NSS shapes students into compassionate leaders who understand societal challenges and work towards sustainable solutions.

NSS at KMEA Engineering College: A Legacy of Service & Empowerment

KMEA Engineering College proudly hosts two dynamic NSS units – Unit 226 and Unit 308, recognized under the APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU) NSS Cell. These units serve as a platform for students to engage in transformative social work while fostering personal growth.

Each unit comprises 100 dedicated volunteers, with 50 students from the second year and 50 from the third year, ensuring a continuous cycle of enthusiastic participation. Under the guidance of experienced Programme Officers, our NSS units have spearheaded numerous impactful initiatives, leaving a lasting impression on communities and volunteers alike.
